Please help us to find witnesses! This is the case of emergency.
There was a dive-accident on January 6th, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in Red Sea at reef Elfinstone (25 km to north-east from the seaside resort Marsa Alam). Four divers still have not been found.
We know there was a boat or yacht near Elfinstone at that time, presumably with divers onboard. Those guys may help us to get urgent information on that accident.
Please contact us if you know them or something about that yacht.

HELP UPDATE:

Anyone with any information, please, contact help@webdive.ru

The missing divers are: Dutchman Michel van Assendelft, a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver; Russian Dmitry Kapitonov, a PADI Open Water Diver; Russian Elena Sundukova, a PADI Instructor; and Egyptian Mahmoud Ahmed Hamdan, the dive guide.

Four tourists and a dive guide had entered the water at Elphinstone Reef at about 9am on the 6th of January in rough conditions. They surfaced about half an hour later to find that they had separated from their boat. Despite their SMB they were not spotted by the boats they could see searching for them.

The current turned and took the divers northward, the coast in sight. They held hands to stay together and keep alert. They swam towards shore till 6pm. After that three of them were flat-out and could not fight the waves. So, one of the group decided to swim separately (leaving his BC with the others) against the current doing his best to alert rescue-team.

Nobody knows if there was an attempt of rescue those night and there is a stormy discussion (in russian blogs) about what the owner of diving center has done in daytime when the divers were missing and the boat had returned without them (boy said he was waiting about 1.30 hours). It looks as if there was no any rescue-boat in those day at all. The divers saw two yachts during swimming, that's all.

Search for the divers was lasted 4 days after. And 5 days more (from 11 till 15 january) the search was continued by the friends of russian divers. They dissapeared without a trace.
